Gov Delta distributes P342M in educational aid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Some 103,747 Kapampangan students have benefitted from the P342-million aid distributed by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda via his Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP).

From the 103,747 are 52,789 college and 49,383 Grade 12 students.  Grade 12 beneficiaries received some P57,515,000 for School Year 2021 to 2022 while for 2020 to 2021 alone, the provincial government gave out P24,733,000 and P23,283,000 for the first and second semesters, respectively, to college EFAP beneficiaries.  

Aside from this, the provincial government had also given out some P6,184,000 financial assistance to Alternative Learning System learners (ALS) for 2021.  Total assistance given to ALS learners in the last three years of Gov. Pineda’s term has reached P9,330,000. 

The EFAP provides financial assistance to indigent students to help them defray school-related expenses. The program covers scholars in in college as well as senior high school. 

The governor added that aside from the EFAP, the provincial government assists out-of-school youth and other underprivileged Kapampangans get good education through the Alternative Learning System.

“These programs go hand-in-hand with our health projects so each Kapampangan could live a decent life,” he said. 

Pineda‘s administration believes that the future of the province and families are in the hands only of highly educated youth.

During the time of former governor and now Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, the provincial government invested P1.2 billion for education.

Aeta student Rolan Popatco, from Eastern Porac National High School, shared that he is very thankful for the help that Gov. Delta extends to public school students.

“Marami nang Aeta ang nakapagtapos sa iba’t ibang larangan. Teacher, social worker kahit nasa bundok kami pinaglalaanan niya kami ng tulong lalo na kaming mga estudyante na patuloy pa ring lumalaban sa gitna ng pandemya,” Popatco said.
