ANGELES CITY – “I will never fight the Lazatins.”

Thus said Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting when asked to comment about her future political plans during the recent press conference hosted by the Pampanga Press Club (PPC) in cooperation with the Park Inn By Radisson Clark.

Cabigting said she owes a lot to the late Angeles City Mayor and Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, that’s why she will never go up against his children.

Tarzan’s two sons are Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin and First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II.

“Cong Tarzan was my mentor and major supporter since I entered public service,” Cabigting said. “He taught me a lot about public service.”

Cabigting said the Lazatin brothers also have been “very good political allies and they supported me and my projects a lot.” She is now seeking a second term with Pogi as her ally.

It could be recalled that Cabigting ran for mayor in 2016 as she was barred by law for seeking a fourth straight term as vice mayor. She ran for vice mayor in 2019 in tandem with Mayor Pogi.

Cabigting said she will try to complete another three terms as vice mayor, “after which, I will most probably not seek an elective post.”

“I will most likely serve in non-governmental organizations,” she added.

Cabigting said she will definitely not run for city councilor. She was a former city councilor before she became vice mayor.

She said she may be replaced by her eldest son – Arthur Vincent – in public service.

“My son shows interest in serving the people as city councilor. But I will not force him. It will be up to him if he will be a public servant like me,” Cabigting said.
