BATAAN police acting director Col. Romell Velasco reported the arrest of eight persons involved in illegal cockfighting in the province.
Velasco said last May 15, eight gamblers in Purok 7, Bgy. Sumalo, Hermosa, were apprehended by elements of Hermosa police and 1st PMFC Bataan in Purok 7, Bgy. Sumalo, identifed as Dionisio Ventura, 48, a construction worker and resident of Purok 5, Bgy. Mambog; Ernesto Sibug, 48, a carpenter; Romeo Junio, 62; Archelis Alfafara, 47, a carpenter, all residents of Purok 6, Bgy. Cataning; Recomendador Tapang, 57, construction worker and a resident of Purok 7, Bgy. Cataning; Rico Junio, 30, a security guard of Bgy. San Pedro; Jomer Pontillas, 28, of Purok 7, Bgy. Sumalo, Hermosa, Bataan; and Rodel Donggon, 41, a welder and a resident of Purok 7, Bgy. Sumalo,while, Roderick Donggon, a construction worker and resident of Purok 7, Bgy. Sumalo and Jose Galiego Jr., 59, Sitio Lampara, Bgy. Mambog remain at large.
Recovered from the suspects were two live fighting cocks, a dead fighting cock, two fighting cock boxes, three gaffs (tari) and total cash bet money amounting to P2,300.
All the suspects are now under the custody of the Hermosa police.
Velasco lauded the operating teams for the operations and vowed to rid the province of illegal gambling activities.
