Angeles City local execs help cancer patient

ANGELES CITY — Two of the city’s public servants have extended a helping hand to a cancer patient from Barangay Cutud here, personally visiting the woman at her home on Aug. 4.

Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel handed over cash assistance to Janette Garcia, 33, who is suffering from colon cancer. They donated their fees as Beautéderm Ambassadors for Garcia’s medical expenses.

They also handed over some cash aid from Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin to help in the expenses of Garcia, who has 3 kids.

Calaguas and Manuel learned about Garcia’s condition through a Facebook post made by the latter’s sister, Christine Garcia.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office is also now processing Garcia’s financial medical assistance.

The Garcia family thanked the local executives for reaching out to them, exerting efforts to visit them despite their busy schedules at work.

Her husband, Christopher Balagtas, said the help will prolong the life of his wife, who is bravely fighting cancer.

He is also asking for prayers for his wife to survive the battle.

Maraming salamat po sa tulong ninyo. Nakilala lang po namin sila Ma’am Reina at IC sa Facebook, nakikita po namin na tumutulong sila,” Balagtas said.

This is not the first time that the two local executives sent financial medical help. For the past two years, they have been helping kids with hydrocephalus.

They were joined by Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Head Irish Bonus-Llego during the visit.
