Doc Anna York eyes return to Congress

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—It is definitely a comeback bid to Congress for Dr. Anna York Bondoc.

She filed her certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Elections here on Tuesday as congresswoman of Pampanga’s 4th District under Nacionalista, the political party of her late father Rep. Emigdio Bondoc and late grand uncle Sen. Gil Puyat.

She is seeking the congressional seat once more as her brother Deputy Speaker Rep. Juan Pablo Bondoc is completing his third and final term in June 2022.

She was vice chair of the House committee on health in 2005 and vice chair of the House committee on appropriations in 2011. Among her important bills was the amendment of the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009 that rendered time for breastfeeding babies during work hours.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year, she has been giving free online medical consultations.

The 4th District consists of Apalit, Candaba, Macabebe, Masantol, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon and Santo Tomas.

She is married to Dr. Jayson Sagum, mayor of San Luis.
