CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin has filed his certificate of candidacy here on Thursday, turning the mayoral race in this Pampanga capital a three-way fight.
Lazatin, 65, is running under the Aksyon Demokratiko. Dolores Barangay Capt. Vilma Caluag of the PDP-Laban and Provincial Board Member Rosve Henson of Kambilan are also seeking to replace Mayor Edwin Santiago who is on his third and final term.
His running mate is former councilor Noel Tulabut.
In the slate for Lugud Fernandino councilors are John Susi, Reggie David, Taro Hizon, Alice Dumlao, Tina Lagman and Angel Wijangco.
In an interview, Lazatin said his vision for San Fernando is to turn it into an “economic power.”
A healthy economy, he added, will “mean more services to the people.”
He said the economic recovery of the city from the COVID-19 pandemic is possible through good governance and trust of the people.
He likened his governance to be like the way it is done currently in Pasig City under Mayor Vico Sotto.
Asked to comment on the three-way mayoral fight, he said the voters should “be responsible.”
“Do not sell your vote. Choose with integrity,” was Lazatin’s advice to voters.
Lazatin is the youngest son of the late businessman and philanthropist Jesus Lazatin.
