MABALACAT CITY — The Mabalacat City Nutrition Council (CNC) is gearing up for an annual assessment of their programs against malnutrition.

In line with this, a simulation activity was held at the Hotel Stotsenberg in Clark Freeport on Tuesday, August 9, for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI).

MELLPI is a two-day assessment process conducted annually by the National Nutrition Council Evaluation Team (NNCET) to measure the local government unit’s improvement efforts in implementing programs against malnutrition. NNCET will also evaluate the performance of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars.

CNC aims to develop and improve its Nutrition Action Plan to continue to monitor, evaluate, and implement the nutrition programs and services as well as prioritize the malnutrition situation of this city.

National Nutrition Council regional officer Anna Maria Rosaldo assessed CNC’s accomplishments and projects in 2021 and lauded the efforts of the city government in their fight against malnutrition.

Kung malnourished ang isang community, wala po itong kapayapaan. Kung mayroon po tayong food insecurity, hindi rin po tayo at peace,” Rosaldo said.

Congratulations in advance dahil nakaabot kayo hanggang dito. Mabalacat City is very lucky kasi puro international partners ang kasama ninyo sa nutrition evaluation,” she added.

On behalf of the CNC, City Nutrition Action officer Gladys Lingat expressed her gratitude to the regional team for their encouragement and support despite the ongoing pandemic.

The 2022 MELLPI in the city is set on August 16 and 17.
