Mylyn opts to be board member again, 5 millennials seek SP seats

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Pampanga Provincial Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab has finally dispelled speculations she was replacing Vice Governor Lilia Pineda in the May 9, 2022 elections. 

Cayabyab on Tuesday, Oct. 5, filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection as a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan representing the second district. 

The former Lubao mayor was thought to be being groomed for the vice gubernatorial post as she chaired the appropriations and health committee, and often represented her brother, Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda in his official functions.

“BM (board member) pa rin po,” she told the PNN. 

Cayabyab joined other candidates for local legislative seats.Four others are seeking reelection: Board Members Atty. Jun Canlas, Benny Jocson, Nelson Calara and Pol Balingit. 

Five others are dubbed as millennials: Mabalacat City Councilor Win-Win Garbo, Guagua Vice Mayor Sajid Eusoof, Bacolor Councilor Lucky Labung and congressional chief of staff Mica Gonzales. 

Governor Pineda accompanied them in their filing of COCs, expressing hopes the provincial government would have “a united SP with a clear agenda for economic rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Cayabyab and other candidates for Board Member are all running under the Kambilan Party.
