Octagon Bar in Angeles City ordered closed; Korean arrested

ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Police Office arrested a Korean national at the Octagon Bar in Barangay Anunas here, and seized some 30 kilos of illegal drugs worth P150,000 in the process.

ACPO Chief of Police Col. Amado Mendoza said that as a result, the bar was ordered closed by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin.

Mendoza identified the suspect as Heetai Chai (a.k.a. Henry), a 30-year-old Korean national.

Mayor Lazatin lauded the ACPO for their successful anti-illegal drug operation that led to the arrest of a Korean national and the confiscation of suspected ketamine in a buy-bust operation.

The operation inside the Octagon Bar was carried out on December 26, 2024, police said.

The operation also led to the recovery of marked bills and boodle money used during the transaction.

Lazatin, in response to the illegal activities happening in the establishment, directed the Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) headed by Enrico Romero to immediately stop the operations of Octagon Bar.

This directive was carried out by Vice Mayor Vicenta ‘Vicky’ Vega-Cabigting, who acted on Lazatin’s behalf as the acting mayor.

“I commend the ACPO for their dedication and successful operation in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. This is a clear reminder that we will not tolerate illegal activities in our city. Despite the holiday season, our work does not stop. We will continue to take swift action against any establishment or individual engaged in unlawful actions. Let us continue to keep Angeles City safe for everyone,” Lazatin said.

The arrested suspect and confiscated evidence were brought to Police Station 4 for proper disposition, and necessary documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges.

ACPO continues to strengthen its efforts in maintaining peace and order, as emphasized by Police Station 4’s ongoing commitment to the safety of Angeles City residents.

It has been one of Mayor Lazatin’s priority programs to eliminate the menace of illegal drugs in the city.
