PDEA seizes ₱6.7-M shabu at Clark airport

CLARK – A top official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Luzon said the agency is gaining ground in the campaign against imported illegal drugs following the seizure of some ₱6.7 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu during an interdiction operation here on March 4.

Central Luzon PDEA regional director Jigger B. Montallana said the imported crystal meth weighing 994 grams were properly packed in a plastic tape concealed inside rounded parts of an unknown heavy equipment machinery.

He said the parcel containing illegal drugs were shipped from East Africa and arrived at the Port of Clark last March 26, 2025. The contraband was declared as “spare parts”.

However, the illegal substance was discovered after undergoing a routine profiling shipment and x-ray examination at the Port of Clark. Also, a subsequent sweeping using K-9 dogs from PDEA Special Enforcement Service K-9 Unit confirmed the presence of illegal drugs inside the concealed “spare parts”.

According to Montallana, four transparent plastic packages containing shabu were seized during the operation. The confiscated drugs were taken to the regional office of PDEA in Barangay Maimpis, City of San Fernando to undergo forensic examination.

He said the successful interdiction operation was made through a collaboration among PDEA, Clark International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, BOC-Port of Clark, The National Bureau of Investigation-Pampanga District Office and the PNP-Aviation Security Unit.
