CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Social Security System (SSS) served notices to nine delinquent employers in Mexico town during its Run After Contributions Evaders (RACE) operation.

They failed to remit their employees’ contributions between 2020 and 2023.

Luzon Central 2 Division Vice President Gloria Corazon Andrada emphasized that employers must comply with the SSS Law in providing social security protection to their employees.

“We want to inform these employers that they only have 15 days to comply to avoid legal actions. On the other hand, we also recognize that the unprecedented financial and operational challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic might have contributed to their non-compliance. Thus, we are offering them an option to avail of our condonation program as well as flexible payment terms,” she said.

Andrada added that the religious remittance of their contributions will assure their employees of benefits from the SSS in times of sickness, maternity, unemployment due to involuntary separation, disability, retirement, and death.

The official advised all delinquent employers to coordinate with their respective account officers to assist them in their application and facilitate putting their accounts in order.

Per records, about 358 employees will benefit from the collection of P2.6 million worth of past-due contributions in Pampanga.

SSS Pampanga Branch has collected P2 million from approved condonation applications as of June this year.

It has also accumulated P6.5 million from previous RACE operations conducted from July 2022 to April 2023.

Andrada emphasized that the state firm launched various programs to bring their services closer to the members, pensioners and claimants.

“SSS wants to provide the best services possible to both members and employers. We hope to meet their needs effectively by bringing services closer to members and implementing programs that benefit the employers and members alike,” she stated.

Programs include the SSS e-Wheels which is a mobile service program that provides digital services closer to the communities without the need for physical branch visits.

Also, the e-Center sa Barangay Program where members can access their My.SSS accounts using their villages’ information technology logistics.

These are being assisted by SSS-trained barangay personnel.
