MANDALUYONG CITY – Officials of Converge FiberXers, the newest team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), vowed to bring the winning tradition in the league.
“Filipinos’ love for basketball is unique. I hope their love for this game grows even stronger because will definitely pour our hearts into every game,” said Converge FiberXers owner Dennis Anthony Uy, who is also the CEO and co-founder of Converge ICT Solutions.
Uy, however, stressed that “we can’t do this overnight.” He added that “we need time to develop a winning culture and tradition.”
Atty. Chito Salud, Converge representative to the PBA’s Board of Governors, said he was instructed by Uy to develop a “competitive team.” He added that Uy wants “a young, fast and 3-point shooting team.”
“First order of the day is to revitalize this franchise. The task before us is to form a dynamic and exciting team that can compete at the highest level. The goal is to build a winning legacy worthy of the winning brand we represent,” Salud said.
Jeffrey Cariaso, who was retained as coach, agreed with Uy. He added that “we also need experienced players.”
Cariaso said “in order to develop a winning team, we must make little changes every now and then.”
Uy, along with his wife Maria Grace, launched its official PBA team name and moniker, the Converge FiberXers, following the company’s much anticipated entry into Asia’s pioneering professional basketball league.
The Converge team moniker is patterned after the company’s brand archetype, the FiberX, which proved itself as a revolutionary addition in the internet landscape in the Philippines.
Just as Converge raised the standards in internet service with FiberX, the company also aims to position FiberXers in the PBA as a dynamic team that will excite the basketball community with a winning mindset.
