Rob suspect dies in police encounter

CAMP OLIVAS – A still unidentified suspect involved in a store robbery incident in Bulacan died in a shootout with police on Sunday.

Initial investigation said members of the Malolos police responded to a robbery report at a convenience store in Bgy. Sumapang Matanda, Malolos City, involving two unidentified suspects who carted away three cellular phones and at least P200,000 in cash and escaped on a motorcycle.

In the hot pursuit operation, the suspects were cornered at a checkpoint in Bgy. Niugan, Malolos City which resulted to a gunfight with responding police officers, killing one of the suspects while his cohort eluded arrest.

Recovered from the slain suspect were one .38 revolver loaded with four live bullets, a fired case cartridge for. 38 gun; three fired case cartridges for .9mm pistol,  a backpack with cash amounting to P177,840 and BDO cash transaction slip with account name of Alfametro Marketing Inc.

PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay said the CL police continuously operates to address crimes in the region.
