2 yield guns, drugs at Bataan checkpoint

BATAAN police director Col. Romell Velasco reported the arrest on Friday of two persons for violating the Comelec gun ban and possessing illegal drugs at a checkpoint in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

In a report to Velasco, Dinalupihan police chief Emelito deal Cruz said his men and members of 1st PMFC Bataan PPO led by Lt. Ariel Eufemio nabbed Robert Lacanilao, 33, of Purok 1 Bgy. Roosevelt; and Ma. Angelica Alferos, 19, of Purok 4, Bgy. Roosevelt, at a checkpoint on Gapan Olongapo Road, in Bgy. Roosevelt, Dinalupihan.

Dela Cruz said they are manning the checkpoint and flagged down a plateless silver gray vehicle driven by Lacanilao. When the police officers approached the car, they instantly noticed the air gun rifle at the back seat and immediately apprehended Lacanilao.

During precautionary search of the vehicle, another handgun was found beneath the backseat of the car and a .45 pistol. Lacanilao failed to present documents for carrying the gun.

Dela Cruz suspect Alferos was arrested for carrying a glass tooter with traces of suspected shabu placed in her handbag.

The two suspects are now under the custody of the Dinalupihan police while criminal raps are being readied against them.
