ANGELES CITY — Some 312 Aeta families are to receive ₱2,000 kabuhayan assistance, food packages and seedlings from the city government here led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.
This is also in line with the city’s celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month this October, set to be held in Barangay Sapangbato.
“Ito pong ipinapamigay ng siyudad ay bilang tulong sa mga kababayan nating naapektuhan ang kabuhayan sa gitna ng pandemya, lalo na para sa ating mga IPs” Lazatin said.
According to Mina Cabiles, Gender and Development Officer-in-Charge, among the beneficiaries are 106 families in Sitio Babo; 52 in Sitio Bliss; and 155 in Sitio Target.
Apart from the kabuhayan financial assistance, food aid, and seedlings, there are also face masks, condensed and evaporated milk to be given to the 312 families.
“Sinisiguro po ni Mayor Lazatin na mahatiran ng tulong ang mga kababayan nating IP, at mapangalagaan ang kanilang kapakanan,” Cabiles said.
“Because this will not start and end only during IP month celebration,” she added.
In fact, 168 Aetas from Barangay Sapangbato were already vaccinated via the Sundo Bakuna program launched by Mayor Lazatin.
Last 2020, the IPs also received milk assistance, mosquito net, and food packages from the city government.
