CAMP OLIVAS — Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay reported that some 3,000 long and short firearms including deadly weapons and explosives have been confiscated from individuals who violated the election gun ban.
Baccay said from the start of the election period on January 9 to June 5, Central Luzon police were able to seize 328 assorted firearms and 2319 deadly weapons and explosives while 400 gun ban violators were arrested and were subsequently filed with appropriate charges.
“We are still continuously conducting regular checkpoints even after the election period ends on June 8 to ensure the maintenance of peace and security in the region. Time and again, I appeal to the public to cooperate with us in the conduct of checkpoint operations and at the same time, I urge the public to be alert and vigilant while passing through our checkpoints and to immediately report any possible irregularities committed by our police personnel,” Baccay said.
