5 cops in hot water for alleged ₱14-M robbery

Four policemen assigned in Angeles City and another in Zambales are now under investigation for alleged robbery of ₱14 million from a private contractor in Porac town.

According to Angeles City police chief Col. Joselito Villarosa Jr., the policemen involved in the incident have been “relieved.”

According to reports, one of the policemen is a station commander with a rank of a major, while three others are intelligence operatives with the ranks of corporal and staff sergeants.

The other policeman is a corporal, assigned at the Zambales provincial office.

In an open letter to DILG Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, the suspects’ colleagues have called on the DILG for an investigation.

They said one of the suspects were nabbed by chance during a follow-up operation, but was later “released for unknown reasons”.

They also stated in the letter a Porac blotter reporting an alleged robbery with intimidation which transpired on Nov. 25 in Barangay Sta Cruz, where three men in civilian clothes casually entered the house of victim Ma. Debbie Lumanlan Lacson.

The blotter stated that the suspects, at gunpoint, forced Lacson, a  companion and the latter’s two young children into the comfort room.

When the suspects left on a motorcycles 10 minutes later, Lacson discovered ₱14 million -owned by the project manager of a construction company – missing.

Although the suspects have been identified via CCTV recordings, it has not been determined if the suspects will face criminal cases, the letter to Remulla stated.

“We take responsibility as we failed to caution our own, but enough is enough. We already failed the people [who are] the very reason we exist,” they said.
