PORAC, Pampanga – More than 5,000 tricycle drivers from the towns of Porac and Sta.Rita received food assistance from 2nd District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab as part of her program to assist those in the transportation sector amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Pineda-Cayabyab visited the towns over the weekend to personally distribute rice and assorted canned goods to the drivers. The lady legislator highlighted the importance of assisting those in the transport sector which were the first to be affected by the economic effects of the pandemic.
“Our transportation sector is still yet to recover from the economic hardships brought by the pandemic. They need all the support until our lives return at least to some level of normalcy,” Pineda-Cayabyab said, adding that the recovery of the transportation sector would depend on the restrictions of economic and school sectors.
Pineda-Cayabyab also gave the drivers face masks and arm sleeves for their daily use.
She is also set to distribute food packs to trike drivers in the towns of the province’s 2nd district comprising Lubao, Floridablanca, Sasmuan and Guagua.
