CAMP OLIVAS – Eight members of the PNP CIDG assigned at the Anti-Organized Crime Unit were arrested on Wednesday for robbery, while two Chinese nationals and a Filipino servant were rescued in Angeles City.
Operatives of the Angeles City police together with CIDG CFU Angeles and RFU3 personnel led by Major Jonathan Mostales identified the suspects as Maj. Ferdinand Mendoza; Ssgs Mark Anthony Reyes Iral and Sanny Ric Alicante; Cpls. Richmond Francia, John Gervic Fajardo, Kenneth Rheiner Ferrer Delfin; Pat. Leandro Veloso Mangale and Pat. Hermogines A Rosario Jr.
According to Mostales, they responded to a reported robbery at #11-16 Missael St., Diamond Subd., in Bgy. Balibago, Angeles City by a group of armed men in civilian clothes who allegedly identified themselves as CIDG personnel.
Upon arrival in the area, the responding lawmen intercepted three men armed with short firearms coming out of the front gate of the residential compound, while the other suspects were arrested inside the house, where two Chinese nationals and a Filipino servant were rescued.
During investigation, responding police discovered that the suspects held seven male Chinese nationals and a Filipino house servant inside the house. They also found 12 computers set up similar to a POGO operation in the living room.
Upon interrogation, the arrested team leader said they were conducting an entrapment operation of firearms in the house. However, police found assorted belongings of the Chinese men including at least P300,000 cash and US dollar bills, inside the suspects’ vehicles.
A .45 caliber pistol was also recovered in the vehicle of the suspects, a Starex van.
All the suspects are now under the custody of the CIDG Angeles CFU while appropriate criminal and administrative cases are now being readied against them.
