Mabalacat City College among CHED’s Gawad Parangal awardees

MABALACAT CITY — The Mabalacat City College has been recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as 1 of 9 Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) in the country with more than 75% of its program offerings granted Certificate of Compliance (COPC).

“There are more than 120 LUCs in the country, and the fact that MCC is one of the few awardees to receive this prestigious award just proves how serious we are in thriving to be the best in providing proper training of our students in preparing them on their next chapter in their future careers,” Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said, adding that this is a true testament to his administration’s commitment to quality and excellence in higher education.

MCC President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, in her acceptance speech on behalf of all the Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) awardees, cited that the CHED today is the most LUC friendly.

“For the first time in the history of LUCs, we are given scholarships, we are also receiving grants, and first time to be part of the Philippine delegation in international exploratory,” Ong said.

Ong received the award with MCC Assistant Vice President Basty A. Sebastian, during the awarding ceremony held at the Quezon City University.

She then added: “The MCC family would like to dedicate this award to its Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo, who just won a landslide victory in Mabalacat in the recently concluded election.”

According to CHED Chairperson J. Prospero De Vera, the awardees were the best of the best in Philippine higher education.
