BATAAN police acting director Col. Romell Velasco reported the arrest on Sunday of four illegal gamblers and a gun ban violator.
Velasco said the Hermosa police headed by Maj. Emerson Coballes conducted an anti-illegal operation in Sitio Lambang, Bgy. Mabiga and arrested Carlos Esinacaño, 45, of Bgy. Baling Tanaway, Tarlac City; Rafael Francisco, 23; Sherwin Hipas, 26, a construction worker; and Rodora Jaime, 44, all residents of Bgy. Mabiga, Hermosa, while another suspect Zaldy dela Cruz, also of Bgy. Mabiga, Hermosa, escaped.
Recovered from the suspects were one live fighting cock and one dead fighting cock; two gaffs and P1,650 in bet money.
Meanwhile, Dinalupihan police commander Maj. Janer Cortez said they responded to a report about a man standing in the middle of the road, shouting and causing alarm to residents.
When the responding cops tried to approach him, the suspect escaped on a plateless motorcycle. The cops chased the suspect who accidentally sideswiped a vehicle which made him fall to the ground.
The suspect tried to pull out a gun, prompting police to arrest him.
Police identified the suspect as Alex Ballao, 52, of Bgy. Kataasan, Dinalupihan, Bataan, who yielded a .45 pistol, two magazines for a .45 gun; 33 live bullets for a .45 gun and five live bullets for .22 gun.
Velasco said Ballao will face a string of charges.
