BORACAY, Malay, Aklan – Converge ICT has committed to connect CCTV of hotels and other key establishments here as this famous tourist destination gears to become a “digital island.”
During the launching of Converge here Wednesday night, Converge Founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy has announced that the pure-fiber internet provider would create a network of security cameras connected to a command center.
“I would like to announce that Converge will connect CCTVs in Boracay to help in monitoring,” Uy said in his speech.
The announcement was welcomed by Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista who attended the launching with business leaders, hoteliers, SME represenatives, travel and tour operators and LGU executives.
“Our plan for Boracay is to rally be a digital island. Converge is of big help (to the plan),” Bautista told this writer in a separate interview.
He expressed gratitude to Uy and Converge, citing the network of cameras would be a deterrent to possible crimes.
“Napakaganda nun. Boracay is a safe destination. Malaking tulong yun lalu na kapag nalaman ng turista yun na safe tayo sa lugar na ito. Makakatulong ang Converge, malaki ang tulong sa fast connectivity,” he added.
Uy said that Converge has previously facilitated the donation of Korea Telecom, one of its tech partners in various undertakings.
This island has hosted the gathering of ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting in February this year where Converge also plays key role in pushing for digital transformation in Southeast Asia.
