ANGELES CITY — A Culinarium, a demo kitchen facility which will showcase the Kapampangans’ culinary ability and passion, will soon be built adjacent to the Museo Ning Angeles in this city’s Heritage District.
This, after the Kuliat Foundation Inc. (KFI) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Hann Foundation Inc. (HFI) on Nov. 14, 2023 for building the first-ever Culinarium in the city.
Signing the MOA were KFI President Lincoln Baluyut, HFI Manager Ronnel Golimlim and Sto. Rosario barangay chairman Renato Cosme, and witnessed by the KFI Board of Directors.
The KFI, which oversees the operations of the Museo, sought the assistance of the Hann Foundation in renovating and enhancing the old Sto. Rosario barangay hall next to the Museo, which has been turned over by the city government to the KFI.
KFI president Lincoln Baluyut said the structure will be renovated to turn it into a fully functional and interactive living kitchen, with cooking classes and food demonstration.
The Culinarium — a Latin word pertaining to “kitchen” or “culinary” — is dedicated to the Kapampangan culinary art and science, according to the KFI.
“It will be developed from the basic concept that food preparation is a heritage and a legacy worthy to preserve, not only by exhibit or collection but most importantly by continuous practice,” Baluyut said.
Meanwhile, the HFI believes “that there is a need to preserve and promote the Kapampangan cuisine and its rich cultural heritage,” according to HFI Manager Ronnel Golimlim.
This Culinaium, the HFI said, will provide an unbroken connection to the past – to specific societal ideals, beliefs, practices, and traditions that enable us to identify with others and increase our sense of solidarity, belonging, and national pride.
HFI targets to complete and turn over this renovation work in March 2024.
