MAGALANG, Pampanga – All roads lead to this town this August as it celebrates the annual Camaru Festival 2024.
Now on its 12th year, the festival aims to showcase the improvement of
the town in agricultural production, economy, culture and tourism.
The Camaru Festival was named last year as the best festival in Central Luzon by the Regional Tourism Council.
Mayor Maria Lourdes “Malu” Lacson and her trusted ally, Councilor Norman Lacson, are expected to lead the events beginning with the Camaru Festival Agricultural Conference on August 15 to 16. It will be held at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU).
“The main economy of Magalang is still agricultural production. We need to make sure we always thrive on it to help the local economy that’s why we are holding the conference,” said tourism officer Ryan Miranda. He is also one the major organizers of the festival.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Miss Magalang 2024. The coronation night will also be held in PSAU on August 19. There are 19 candidates.
Municipal Treasurer Raissa Bayani, chairperson of the Miss Magalang, said the grand winner will receive P50,000 cash and other “surprise gifts.”
“Mutya ning Magalang is not just about winning the crown but the values you uphold, the stories that you tell, and the way you inspire others,” Mayor Lacson told the candidates during their presentation on August 3.
“You will be the symbol of a progressive municipality,” she added.
Other events are the bonsai show and competition, multi-sectoral float parade, tattoo competition and job fair.
The street dance competition, which will be held around the streets of the town plaza, will be held on August 22 at 3 pm.
“It will held rain or shine. The young people joining the completion are insisting on pushing through regardless of the weather,” the organizers said.
