Banking executives have underscored the role of SMEs in boosting the Philippine economy especially as the Christmas season begins.
BPI Business Banking Segment Head Dominique “Ococ” Ocliasa said that the institution stands ready to support SMEs.
“Together we are a community of ka-negosyos (business partners) committed to supporting SMEs in achieving their growth aspirations,” he said.
He made the remark during the Ka-Negosyo Fiesta at Newpoint Mall at Nepo Complex in Angeles City which will run from August 30 to September 1.
“Fiesta spirit brings people with diverse backgrounds together for a common cause. The partnership that brought about Ka-Negosyo Fiesta is a testament to the power of bayanihan,” he added.
The event is part of Ka-Negosyo Festival in celebration of the bank’s 172nd anniversary. BPI is the oldest bank in Far East Asia.
“This (event) underscores how BPI truly values the impact of our SMES on the many families and communities that they support through jobs and livelihoods and creating valuable trade efforts that lead up and roll up to significantly to the state of Philippine economy,” he said.
“We seize this opportunity to amplify the fund support for small businesses especially as they gear up ahead for busy months ahead, ” he furthered.
The event brings together many local and national SMEs, including host JDN Realty.
Aside from Ocliasa, other BPI top executives present include Treasurer and SVP Dino Gasmen with heads of various units of the banking institution. Also present were Rick Wilkerson and Aaron Montenegro, President amd CEO and Chief Operating Officer of JDN, respectively.
