ANGELES CITY – This city’s isolation facility at the City College of Angeles (CCA) which houses Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) is now empty after six patients housed there completed their 14-day quarantine today, November 11, with negative RT-PCR result for COVID-19.
According to Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, this is the first time, in the past year, that there is no one confined at the facility as COVID-19 cases continue to decline.
Manuel, who handles the operations and management at the isolation facility together with City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, said the patients were taken to their respective homes by personnel of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, led by Rodolfo Simeon, as soon as they were cleared for COVID-19.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, meanwhile, shared that close contacts being housed at the isolation facility, with a 100-bed capacity, receive free meals from the established community kitchen of Mayor Lazatin – from breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Room amenities also include airconditioning units, electric fan, television sets and free WiFi.
The city has seen a steady decline in COVID-19 confirmed cases, with no close contacts tested at the CCA swabbing center last November 6.
To date, a total of 270,742 Angeleños already received their first dose of vaccines while 207,480 are already fully vaccinated, with the intensified vaccination drive of Mayor Lazatin.
Calaguas is the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program with the 400 working staff in the vaccination team.
