Water company aims for sustainability, better products

ANGELES CITY – This city’s provider of drinking water has underscored the importance of sustainable supply of safe and potable water as part of its commitment to fulfilling UN-prescribed development goals.

Chriselle Alejandro, president of Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. has stressed the role of their company in providing safe drinking water. She made the remarks as guest of honor during the launching of the 6-liter variant of Balipure Purified Drinking Water (Balipure).

“Water is life. Under Sustainable Development Goals No. 6 (of United Nations) there should be universal access for safe and potable water,” she said.

She said that their company is also seriously considering rainwater harvesting in order to promote sustainability.

“Rainwater harvesting is being promoted internationally for households to be able to collect rainwater for toilets and cleaning (purposes). This is to preserve freshwater which is scarce. We have to protect the environment, ” she added.

She furthered that the new 6-liter bottle would be helpful in the distribution of residents affected and dislocated into evacuation centers during calamities.

For his part, Balipure Chairman of the Board Cristino L. Panlilio said that the launching of a new variant is part of a continuing innovation of the Angeles City-based bottling company in an effort to break records.

“From nothing, we grow. We have to continue innovating. All of us are work in progress. We strive to improve ourselves,” he said.

Panlilio, a former varsity player at Ateneo De Manila University, likened the efforts of their company to sports records that are broken especially the Olympics.

“As imprinted in the bottles citius, altius, forties, we should adapt to get faster, higher, stronger. Records are meant to be broken in sports and in sales, ” he said as referred to variety of sizes of bottled water of Balipure.
