Hann Foundation inaugurates 1st ALS Center in Bamban

BAMBAN, Tarlac – The Hann Foundation celebrated a significant milestone with the opening ceremony of its first Alternative Learning System (ALS) Community Learning and Resource Center (CLRC) in Sitio Malasa, Barangay Anupul, Bamban, Tarlac.

The newly established ALS CLRC, constructed within three weeks using innovative container prefab technology, consists of four units and features a modern two-story facility.

The ground floor works as a multipurpose classroom with learning tools such as a 65-inch television, computers, tables, and chairs, to enhance the educational experience. The second floor accommodates the ALS teachers’ office, complete with computers and printers, and a dormitory for ALS instructors and educators of Malasa Integrated School. The total project cost is ₱2 million.

The turnover ceremony, held at the Malasa Integrated School, was attended by HFI’s Executive Director Ana Christi G. Galura, and DepEd Tarlac Schools Division Superintendent Jessie Ferrer, CESO V. The event also served as a culminating activity for the Foundation’s Indigenous Peoples Month celebrations.

Galura stated, “Hann Foundation believes in the ALS Program of DepEd and recognizes the significance of providing educational services to the Ayta community.”

In addition, Ferrer emphasized, “We are indeed blessed and in great need of more support for our education sector. This is a holistic community approach that involves the private sector, churches, DepEd, and other stakeholders working together to support each learner.”

Following the ceremony, the community witnessed a traditional ribbon-cutting and blessing led by Fr. Art Eduarte, a moment shared by the District Superintendents of East and West Bamban, the ALS Team of Tarlac, and the DepEd Tarlac team, who were also present.
