Angeles City commits to continue inclusive governance

ANGELES CITY – This city has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance and public-private collaboration.

This was gleaned during a recent luncheon to celebrate the Chinese New Year on January 29, 2025.

During the luncheon hosted by Angeles City, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. recognized the contributions of the Filipino-Chinese community to this city’s economic growth and social development.

The ggathering was initiated by Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda in honor of the Filipino-Chinese community.

“Malapit na pong magtapos ang anim na taon ko bilang mayor ng Lungsod ng Angeles, pero ito po ang unang beses na nagkaroon tayo ng isang salu-salo sa tanghalian para sa Chinese New Year,” Lazatin said.

During his address, Mayor Lazatin highlighted key accomplishments of his administration, including maintaining stable business and property tax rates while increasing the city’s annual budget, thanks to the diligent tax payments of local businesses.

Advancing sustainability and public safety

Mayor Lazatin also underscored the city’s sustainability initiatives, such as the installation of solar panels in government offices, barangays, and primary healthcare facilities. Currently, 1,500 streetlights across Angeles City are powered by solar energy.

Public safety has also been strengthened with an expanded 24/7-monitored CCTV network and the launch of the Angeleño Alerto 24/7 Mobile App – POGI (Personal On-Call Guard Interface) to enhance emergency response and service delivery.

Ongoing infrastructure and healthcare projects

Among the city’s ongoing major projects is the transformation of Belen Homesite Elementary School into Angeles City’s first fully solar-powered public school.

The seven-story expansion of Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC) is also underway, which will significantly improve public healthcare access. Additionally, six new primary healthcare facilities are being constructed, bringing the total to 15 once completed.

“Makakaasa po kayo na kahit limang buwan na lang ang aking termino bilang mayor, hindi po mababawasan ang aking dedikasyon sa paghahatid ng dekalidad na serbisyo sa lungsod,” Mayor Lazatin assured attendees.

Mayor Lazatin closed his speech with well-wishes for the Chinese New Year, reaffirming Angeles City’s commitment to growth through collaboration and innovation.
