Angeles City cops nab gunrunner

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A suspected gunrunner was arrested on Valentine’s Day by police operatives during an entrapment operation in Barangay Anunas, Angeles City.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, Angeles City Police Office director Colonel Joselito E. Villarosa Jr., said the suspect identified only as alias “Ed”, 32, of Barangay Lourdes North West in the said city, was caught by pursuing members of the city intelligence unit and Station 4 policemen when he tried to escape.

Fajardo said the suspect was cornered by pursuing policemen in Barangay Cutcut, Angeles City after a brief chase. He did not resist arrest when collared by policemen. The lady police general said the suspect was caught red-handed selling a .45 caliber pistol for ₱15,000 to an undercover cop who provided a marked ₱1,000 bill (serial number S632070) along with boodle money.

During the transaction, the suspect discovered that he was dealing with an undercover policeman and attempted to escape on board a motorcycle which prompted police operatives to chase him until he was caught in Barangay Cutcut.

Villarosa said the gun and the marked money were seized from the suspect after his arrest. He is currently detained at Police Station 4 after charges of illegal possession of a firearm and other related criminal cases were filed against him in court.

In a related development, Fajardo lauded the operatives for their precision and swift action, emphasizing the PNP’s relentless pursuit of illegal firearms syndicates.

“This operation sends a strong message, there is no safe haven for those who seek to arm criminals and threaten the public. The PNP remains relentless in its pursuit of illegal firearms and will continue to take bold and decisive actions to protect our communities,” Fajardo stressed.
