25 Subic farmers undergo bagoong making training

The Department of Agrarian Reform provides a one-day bagoong-making training to about 25 members of SAPAO Cawag Farmers Association Inc. in Subic, Zambales. (DAR Bataan-Zambales)

IBA, Zambales – About 25 farmers in Subic, Zambales underwent training on the process of making bagoong.

The training, initiated by the Department of Agrarian Reform, was participated by members of the SAPAO Cawag Farmers Association Inc. 

DAR Bataan-Zambales Program Beneficiaries Development Division Head Dana Domingo said the initiative aims to provide farmers with additional livelihood opportunities while promoting the efficient use of local resources.

“The members of the association were taught the step-by-step process of making bagoong, from selecting ingredients and preparing the mixture to the fermentation process and quality control,” she said.

The participants were also given hands-on experience to ensure they understood the proper techniques in bagoong production.

Moreover, beneficiaries also learned about policy systems and procedures, and formed a management team to oversee the processing of their product.

The program encourages farmers to explore value-added products and alternative sources of livelihood, improving their economic stability.
