CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) led the groundbreaking ceremony of its regional office building inside the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center (DMGC), reinforcing its commitment toward development-driven government communication.

The new PIA Central Luzon Regional Office is envisioned to be a modern information hub that will serve as the primary conduit for government programs, policy messaging, and citizen engagement across the seven provinces of the region.

In her keynote message, PIA Director-General Katherine Chloe S. De Castro said the event is not just about the construction of a building, but about laying down the foundation for truthful and empowering communication that brings the government closer to the people and the people closer to the development of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’.

“As the primary public information arm of our government’s communication and information, PIA Central Luzon exists to listen, inform, and serve. The facility we will build here in San Fernando will be a center for fast and reliable information where truth is nurtured, where stories of progress are amplified, and where our people’s voices are heard,” she said.

She also stressed that the the sealing of the time capsule sends a message to the future that in 2025, despite the challenges, PIA chose to start over and to stand up for the truth, for service, and for the nation.

For his part, PIA Central Luzon Regional Head William Beltran said that the permanent presence of PIA in the DMGC soon will facilitate and further strengthen its coordination and collaboration with various national government agencies in terms of development communication efforts.

“This event is more than just a beginning of a building, it is also a symbol of our deepened commitment to deliver timely, accurate, and relevant information that empowers citizens and strengthens trust in public institutions,” he said.

Meanwhile, representing Regional Development Council Vice Chair and Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Director Nerrisa Esguerra, DEPDev Assistant Regional Director Dolores Molintas said the establishment of the new facility is a concrete manifestation of PIA’s continued efforts to empower citizens to make informed decisions and actively participate in democratic governance.

“As the country’s chief information arm, PIA continues to play a vital role in bridging the government closer to the people. This facility will enhance the agency’s capabilities to deliver its mission of fostering growth, development, and inclusive participation,” she cited.

The project, with an estimated budget of P34 million, is being implemented in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2026.

Once completed, the PIA Regional Office Building will be the 53rd agency to establish an office within the DMGC, supporting the government center’s purpose to provide a one-stop shop for all government services in Central Luzon.
