If you haven’t trekked to Mt. Pinatubo yet, here’s your chance to see the crater of the world-famous volcano and see the sights.
Pinatubo Mountainero, a travel agency and tour operator accredited by the Department of Tourism, is offering a tour package to attract more tourists – “Reintroducing Mt. Pinatubo Clark Adventures”.
During this month’s edition of Pampanga Press Club’s Kapihann at Swissotel Clark, Pinatubo Mountainero chairman Bari Silvestre promoted their latest tour package for adventurous tourists, which features the new Inararo trail, Ana-an Falls and the famous Tutulari Avatar Gorge.
Silvestre said these are part of a community-based tourism development initiated by the Indigenous People Organization (IPO), in collaboration with Pinatubo Mountainero, sometime on March 2022.
He added that the project showcases a successful collaboration between Indigenous communities, and tourism stakeholders, prioritizing sustainability and inclusivity with proper process.
Meanwhile, the Tutulari Avatar Gorge is the most accessible and most affordable tour in Clark, Silvestre said. The gorge, according to Silvestre, is a unique geographic feature in the Philippines.
The Inararo Ecotour can also be combined with seeing the Ana-an Falls or visiting thr Puning Hot Spring & Restaurant for a full day tour. Add-ons include an authentic binulu lunch, native archery and cultural immersion.
The Inararo trail is now more accessible, Silvestre said, through the efforts of the local Ayta guides and funds from tourism fees. He said wooden bridges and stone steps were formed to help guests cross the rivers. There is also now a wider trail path to accommodate incoming and returning guests.
Silvestre also mentioned the re-opening of the Mt. Pinatubo hike via Capas trail, following an Executive Order released by the Botolan local government unit and through the support of the Indigenous Community.
Local indigenous communities have long played a pivotal role in this land, Silvestre added, as their involvement ensures that tourism benefits are shared equitably and that their ancestral lands and cultural heritage are protected.
