7ID reaffirms commitment to sustained peace, development in Central Luzon

PALAYAN CITY — The 7th Infantry Division (7ID) of the Philippine Army has reinforced its strong commitment to promoting peace and development efforts in Central Luzon, following the official declaration of the dismantling of the Komiteng Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (KRGL).

This significant milestone was confirmed by the National Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center through Resolution No. 01, Series of 2025, after thorough deliberations and validation by the Area Clearing Validation Committee.

The declaration was based on comprehensive joint operational reports submitted by units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.

A significant factor contributing to this achievement was the neutralization of 10 Communist Terrorist Group elements, including four identified high-value individuals, during an operation conducted on June 26, 2024 at Kilometer 6, Barangay Malbang in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.

Joint Task Group Agila led the operation under the command of then-Brigadier General Joseph Norwin Pasamonte, who currently serves as the Commander of the 7ID.

Pasamonte underscored the importance of safeguarding the hard-won peace and preventing any resurgence of insurgency in the region.

The dismantling of KRGL is a clear testament to the success of this multi-sectoral and whole-of-government approach, aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA), where he declared the collapse of all guerrilla fronts across the country.

“Ang kapayapaan ay mahalagang pundasyon ng Bagong Pilipinas, kaya pinapatatag natin ito kasabay ng ating pag-unlad,” the President said, emphasizing that peacebuilding must go hand-in-hand with development, through the continued modernization of the country’s police and armed forces.

President Marcos also highlighted the government’s support for former rebels who have returned to the fold of the law, alongside their families, they are being provided with livelihood programs and community development support through the help of the private sector.

The government is dedicated to uplifting conflict-affected communities through infrastructure, livelihood, and development programs that are now benefiting more than 13 million Filipinos who are safe from conflict. (CLJD/CCN, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
