CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — At least 160 children who were rescued from a church-run facility in Mexico town, amid allegations of verbal, physical, and emotional abuse, have received immediate medical care and support from the Pampanga provincial government.

The rescue operation, carried out by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), prompted swift action from the Capitol.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda personally visited the children to check on their condition and ensure they were safe and attended to on Friday, August 15.

“I instructed that doctors and psychologists be present to monitor the children and guide them in regaining their confidence and ability to express themselves properly. I assured the DSWD—we will help, and we will continue to support,” said Governor Pineda.

A medical team from the Provincial Health Office, led by Dr. Dax Tidula, was deployed to conduct comprehensive check-ups and provide urgent treatment.

“Some children had symptoms of colds and coughs, while others had bruises on their arms and chest. We are conducting further tests, including X-rays, to determine the extent of their injuries,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Dax Tidula.

This intervention is part of a broader effort to ensure the children’s full physical recovery and initiate emotional and psychological rehabilitation.

Governor Pineda stressed that the Capitol will continue working closely with concerned agencies to safeguard the well-being, protection, and rights of the rescued children.

“We are providing them with warm meals like lugaw and pancakes, hygiene kits, clothing, and even haircut services. We want them to feel cared for and comforted—because clearly, they were not receiving the care and protection they deserved,” Governor Pineda added.

The provincial government reaffirmed its strong commitment to upholding the rights of vulnerable children, ensuring they are given the care and compassion they need to heal and rebuild their lives.
