K-water improves PH educational environment with clean water, solar power

K-water Improves Educational Environment in the Philippines with Clean Water and Solar Power1.jpg

Volunteers from K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation) spent about a week installing water purification facilities, solar power equipment, and drinking water supply systems at five elementary schools in Pampanga.

Previously, these schools relied on manual groundwater pumps, leaving students vulnerable to waterborne diseases such as E. coli infections.
With this support, students are now expected to have access to clean water and experience fewer class disruptions due to power outages.

This volunteer group, composed of 32 employees of K-water, also conducted hygiene and safety education, water purification experience activities, and cultural exchange programs.

K-water’s efforts go beyond volunteer work, as the company also participates in major water infrastructure projects in the Philippines. Through the Angat Dam hydropower modernization project (246 MW), it has supported power stabilization and technology transfer since 2014 for a 25-year period.

In the New Clark City integrated water supply and sewerage management project, K-water is introducing the Philippines’ first underground dam, AI-based water treatment plant, and smart water network management technology to ensure reliable water supply and climate-resilient urban infrastructure.

The volunteers also held a donation drive after completing volunteer activities for “Improving Sustainable Educational Environments.”

Marianne D. Pineda, Principal of Gueco Balibago Elementary School, said: “Clean water and a better living environment will firmly support the learning and growth of our students.”

Gu Ja-young, Head of K-water’s Strategic Planning Division, stated: “ESG management is a global responsibility that must be practiced beyond borders. As a global water company, K-water will continue to create a sustainable future with water, leveraging our accumulated technology and networks.”
