CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — More than 30 farmers and members of Farmers’ Cooperative Associations (FCAs) recently received livelihood assistance from the Provincial Government of Pampanga through the distribution of goats intended to help augment their income and recovery after the recent heavy rains.

A total of 104 female goats, aged 8 to 10 months and crossbred from Anglo Nubian and Boer breeds, were distributed to beneficiaries.
The program, spearheaded by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, aims to provide farmers with an alternative and sustainable source of livelihood, particularly in times of calamities and agricultural challenges.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Jasmin Manlutac emphasized the advantages of goat raising, highlighting its potential profitability and low maintenance requirements.
According to her, goats can reproduce every five months, giving birth to two to four offspring, and can later be sold at market prices ranging from ₱10,000 to ₱12,000 each.

“Goat raising is a practical and profitable venture for farmers, especially as it requires minimal input while providing considerable income opportunities,” Dr. Manlutac explained.
The initiative builds on the province’s continuous support to the agricultural sector, as the Capitol had earlier distributed another 104 goats to farmers who were also affected by recent calamities.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the assistance. “Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Gov. Nanay at Vice Gov. Delta sa tulong na ibinigay nila. Ang ganda po ng kambing na natanggap namin. Malaki po itong tulong sa aming mga magsasaka lalo na tuwing may bagyo. At least, may mapagkukuhanan po kaming alternatibong maibebenta,” shared Monica Espiritu, one of the recipients.
Through these livelihood programs, the Provincial Government of Pampanga continues to strengthen its support for farmers, ensuring resilience, recovery, and opportunities for growth in the local agricultural sector.
