6,526 PWDs receive aid from DSWD, Capitol

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO —
A total of 6,526 persons with disabilities (PWDs) from various towns in Pampanga recently received financial and medical assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga.

The aid was personally distributed by Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda together with the provincial board members during weeklong distribution held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

According to Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the initiative aims to continuously extend financial, medical, and livelihood support to vulnerable sectors across the province.

“Our PWDs are part of the sectoral groups we continuously assist—along with Bantay Bayan volunteers, cancer patients, members of the National Council of Women, dialysis patients, and many others—to provide added support for their families,” the Vice Governor said in Kapampangan.

The program forms part of the province’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive and compassionate governance, ensuring that every Kapampangan in need receives adequate care and social protection.

Among the thousands of beneficiaries is 68-year-old Merly Gomez of Mexico, Pampanga. Born with polio, Gomez has lived with physical challenges all her life, yet she continues to find hope and strength through the consistent support of the provincial government.

Apart from the annual financial aid, Gomez also benefited from the Capitol’s medical assistance program, which helped her undergo a life-saving surgery last year that successfully removed 42 kidney stones—a procedure she said would not have been possible without the help of Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda’s administration.

Overcome with emotion, Gomez expressed her gratitude: “I saw genuine love from Nanay. I have no parents anymore, but I saw in her the heart of a mother.”

For beneficiaries like Gomez, programs like this represent more than just financial aid—it is a reflection of compassion, dignity, and the government’s sincere commitment to serve its people.

“Nanay Pineda didn’t just give us financial help. She gave us hope and love, like that of a true mother,” Gomez added.
