TARLAC CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac, in partnership with 27 private establishments in the province, has launched the Consumer E-CONnect Program 1.2, an initiative aimed at enhancing consumer education through digital platforms within participating business establishments.
The program, branded as “Learn While You Shop,” features the display of electronic posters on consumer rights and responsibilities, fair trade practices, product standards, and responsible consumption using LED screens and television monitors in participating stores.
DTI Acting Provincial Director Florencia Balilo emphasized that the initiative underscores the commitment of the business sector to consumer welfare while reinforcing collaboration between the DTI and private establishments.
“With this partnership initiative, we were able to maximize available resources such as LED screens and TV displays in various shopping establishments,” she said.
Balilo added that the program ensures that consumers leave establishments not only with their purchases but also with knowledge that promotes informed decision-making and consumer protection.
“Instead of merely showing commercial ads or promotional content, we allocated screen time for consumer advocacies, giving shoppers the opportunity to learn while shopping,” she noted.
Participating establishments include eight branches of 1st Megasavers, eight branches of BHF Appliance, four branches of New Tarlac Northern Marketing, four branches of Pan Appliance Corporation, two branches of Abenson Ventures Inc., and CCRI Cooling Solutions.
The Consumer E-CONnect Program 1.2 was built on the initial Consumer E-CONnect initiative launched earlier this year, which focused on the implementation of digital price watch boards and electronic consumer advocacy materials featuring updates on the latest suggested retail prices of basic and prime commodities.
