CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has stepped up efforts to fast-track long-delayed and critical infrastructure projects in Pampanga following a series of site inspections led by DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Road Projects in Apalit
Secretary Dizon ordered the immediate completion of the ongoing road rehabilitation along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sampaloc, Apalit, and the Santiago–San Vicente Road before the onset of the rainy season.
The inspection was conducted with Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Apalit Mayor Jun Tetangco, Vice Mayor Peter Nucom, and DPWH officials.
The projects are expected to be completed within four months, bringing relief to residents and motorists affected by poor road conditions.
San Agustin Norte Bridge in Arayat
Secretary Dizon also inspected the long-delayed San Agustin Norte Bridge in Arayat, which has been stalled for nearly eight years due to funding issues.
To ensure completion, DPWH committed ₱75 million to finish the bridge within the year, with the Provincial Government of Pampanga and the Arayat LGU addressing right-of-way concerns.
Arnedo Dike Rehabilitation
At the Arnedo Dike in Barangay Cupang, Arayat, DPWH assessed damaged sections of the dike and slope protection that collapsed following heavy rains last year.
Temporary measures are being implemented to protect nearby communities ahead of the rainy season, including river desilting and improved dike design. The Provincial Government has committed support once clearances are secured.

“Tama na po sana ang tapal-tapal na solusyon kasi buhay po ng mga Kababayan ko ang nakasalalay rito,” the vice governor said.
DPWH, the Provincial Government of Pampanga, and local government units continue to work closely to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure projects critical to public safety and mobility.
