MEXICO, Pampanga — Soliman EC welcomed at least 80 Pollution Control Officer (PCO) trainees from Alab Solutions, Inc. to its wastewater treatment facility in Barangay Eden this town, as part of the Alab PCO Training Tour.
The visit forms part of Alab Solutions’ 40-hour professional certification program designed to provide PCOs with practical exposure to operational treatment facilities and industry best practices in environmental management. The initiative underscores the collaborative efforts among private sector stakeholders, environmental professionals, and regulators in advancing responsible and compliant environmental operations.
Engr. Christian Joseph Bacani, Pollution Control Officer of Soliman EC, emphasized the value of experiential learning in strengthening technical competencies among environmental practitioners.
“Providing trainees with direct exposure to wastewater and hazardous waste treatment and disposal operations enhances their understanding of regulatory compliance and operational standards,” Bacani said.
During the facility tour, Soliman EC, in partnership with Korean technology firm Groon, showcased the Groon Oxidation Technology — an advanced wastewater treatment solution that utilizes low-temperature plasma to effectively treat domestic and high-strength industrial wastewater.
The system enables efficient contaminant degradation, stable operational performance, and reduced facility and maintenance costs compared to conventional advanced treatment technologies. Soliman EC is positioning the technology as part of its long-term strategy to address wastewater treatment challenges in the Philippines.
Dr. Lee Inho and Dr. Hong Youngpyo, Groon executives and inventors of the oxidation technology, were present during the activity and provided technical insights into the system’s development and applications.
