Cong Pogi congratulates Angeles City’s Allyson Hetland

FIRST DISTRICT, Pampanga – “Warmest congratulations to Allyson for making it to the top seven and thank you for making one of our dreams as Angeles City Mayor come true.”

Thus said former Angeles City Mayor and now Congressman Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. after Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) Pampanga Allyson Hetland made it in the top seven during the MUPH Coronation Night held on May 2, 2026 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

Lazatin has said in the past that one of his dreams is to produce a national pageant winner from Angeles City.

Hetland, who hails from Barangay Pandan, Angeles City, is the last Mutya Ning Angeles crowned by Lazatin before he stepped down as Angeles City Mayor on June 30, 2024.

Since day one, Lazatin and his team have shown their all-out support for Hetland’s bid in the MUPH 2026.

Ahead of the Coronation Night, Lazatin’s team, supervised by Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel, prepared red banners bearing the words ‘Malagu Ka, Pampanga!’ and heart-shaped light sticks to be used as cheering items during the pageant.

The light sticks and banners were personally funded by Lazatin, Manuel, and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas.

Apart from the cheering items, Lazatin, Manuel, and Calaguas also personally funded entrance tickets for Hetland’s supporters from her home barangay, as well as food and fuel expenses traveling to the pageant venue.

Manuel, as well as members of Lazatin’s staff, were present in the audience during the Coronation Night to personally show their support for Hetland.

Also present were Pandan Barangay Captain Maria Corazon “Cors” Alejandrino and staff.
