CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Health (DOH) assured parents and guardians that the reformulated dose of the Pfizer vaccine being jabbed to children are safe, effective, and have undergone clinical trials.

With this, DOH Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana is appealing to parents and guardians to uphold the rights of the children by having them vaccinated against COVID-19.

She emphasized that the launching of the vaccination drive to the pediatric population 5 to 11 years old is to value the health and welfare of children who will be an important sector of the society in the future.

“Ten years from now they will be in college so they will be the ones to have their own advocacy that they are vaccinated and protected against COVID-19 transmission,” she said during the launching of the Resbakuna Kids at Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital.

Also, Laxamana urged the parents to help the national government in its advocacy of COVID-19 vaccine inoculation by being models in encouraging other parents to have their children protected against the transmission of the disease.

“Congratulations to the parents because you are the key so that your children will get vaccinated. With the upcoming Valentine’s Day, we should tell other parents to let the love come out by having their children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated with our Prizer vaccine,” she pressed.

Central Luzon targets to vaccinate about 1.6 million kids from the said age group including about 317,095 from the province.

Meanwhile, Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda thanked the national government for bringing the vaccines to the provinces and the grassroots, thus allaying the fears of the parents about the safety of their children against the disease.

“As a parent and as a grandparent, I will have my children and grandchildren vaccinated. I will show to the province that I believe in the program of the national government, and that I am not afraid about these vaccines for my loved ones. We have to give protection to the children so we have to vaccinate them,” he underscored.

Pineda shared that the province will expand its pediatric vaccination drive in the coming weeks to further reach the children.
