MABALACAT CITY — The city government here is urging residents to continue observing the minimum public health standards against COVID-19 despite the steady decline of active cases.
This, after the Mabalacat City Police Station (Mabalacat CPS) reported 187 apprehensions on protocol violations through the implementation of Oplan Bandillo, enforcing Executive Order No.17-C-2021 imposed by the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
“Paunti-unti po ay nagagawa po natin na mapababa ang mga aktibong kaso ng COVID-19 sa ating siyudad. Ito po ay naging posible dahil na rin sa ating pagtalima sa mga global health and safety protocols na ipinataw rin ng ating IATF, maging ang tuluy-tuloy na pagbabakuna ng ating mga residente kontra COVID-19,” said Mayor Crisostomo Garbo.
“Gayunpaman, hindi dito natatapos ang pandemya. Nakalulungkot po na kailangan pa nating manghuli ng mga protocol violators kung saan ang tanging hangarin lamang naman natin ay maproteksyunan ang bawat mamamayan mula sa virus na ito,” the city mayor added.
According to the data submitted by Mabalacat CPS, with the month-long implementation of EO 17, a total of 126 individuals were caught for not wearing facemasks; 39 were arrested for violating curfew restrictions; 14 were apprehended for violating curfew inside a betting station wherein 8 individuals are also not wearing facemasks.
Mabalacat CPS furthered that all arrested persons underwent mugshot and booking procedures. Subsequently, the individuals were released due to congested custodial facility; however, appropriate charges will be filed against them through Regular Filing.
“With the serious and stern implementation of IATF guidelines, the police are duty bound to enforce the law, arrest violators to prevent the widespread of COVID 19,” the Mabalacat CPS said in a statement.
For the month of September, the Mabalacat City COVID-19 Response Integrated System reported that the city is experiencing high COVID-19 recovery rates and low daily infections. To date, active cases in Mabalacat City declined to 254 from a record of 629 in August in the wake of the Delta variant outbreak in the Philippines.
