ANGELES CITY – This city government has a new tricycle fare matrix, setting the minimum fare at ₱35 for up to two passengers for the first kilometer, with an additional ₱15 for each succeeding kilometer.
Ordinance No. 723, S-2024 mandates that discounts be given to students, senior citizens, disabled persons, and solo parents, in line with existing laws.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. expressed full support to the Angeles City Council led by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting on the said new mandate, emphasizing that such move is essential for improving the city’s public transport system.
“This is a step forward in providing better and more organized transportation for our residents while ensuring that the rights of passengers are protected. We will ensure the strict implementation of the new set fare matrix with the help of the Public Transport Regulatory Office,” Lazatin said.
Further, members of the PTRO already distributed the new fare matrix to all terminals throughout the city.
PTRO Head Ferdinand Calma explained that tricycle operators are required to display a fare matrix inside their vehicles and at terminals, with the “No posted fare matrix, No travel” policy to be strictly enforced.
Additionally, Calma said, all drivers must accept passengers regardless of gender, status, age, or physical condition.
Under the said Ordinance, violations of the fare rules will result in fines or suspension of the Motorized Tricycle Operator’s Permit (MTOP), which penalties range from Php 1,000 for first offenses to Php 5,000 and potential MTOP revocation for repeat offenders.
