Revisiting plans, the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) has the local residents in mind, especially students and youth who may not know the rich culture, tradition and history of Angeles City.
ACTO Head Louie Lazatin said that the LGU is focusing on Heritage Tour, a trip that will bring tourists to the Pamintuan Mansion, Museo Ning Angeles, the Culinarium and the Holy Rosary Parish Church. All are contiguous and found at the Heritage district. She was guest at Pampanga Press Club’s News@Hues, a regular media forum at Park Inn by Radisson Clark.

“We want to establish the Heritage Tour and we want students to trace the roots of the city,” she said.

Lazatin, a millennial, lamented that today’s youth have been so engrossed with social media but may have neglected to know more of the city’s history, particularly its beginnings.

“Dapat alamin natin kung saan tayo nanggaling. And those stories should be passed on to the youth,” she added.
She said that under Mayor Jon Lazatin, tourism endeavors will be more focused on the community. All these under the new slogan “Experience, Live, Love, Angeles City”.

“It will be tourism with a heart, inclusive, sustainable and community driven. It should not only bring visitors but also opportunities,” she furthered.
By this, she said the tourism program will consider marginalized sectors that include solo parents, persons with disabilities, indigenous people, senior citizens, small businesses and other lowly sectors.
The Pamintuan Mansion is a historic edifice that was used by the Katipunan during the Philippine American War and had served as the headquarters of Genneral Antonio Luna. The Museo Ning Angeles was the former Angeles City Hall and is now being used as exhibit hall for arts and artifacts.

The Culinarium, also found at the Museo, is a section dedicated to preservation and promotion of culinary delights of Angeles City and Pampanga. Also known as the “Pisamban Maragul” , the Holy Rosary Church was built in 1877 and is a recognized by the National Commission for the Culture and Arts.
