Armed robber killed in Angeles City shootout

CAMP LT. TOMAS J PEPITO — A robbery suspect was killed in a shootout in this city on Wednesday.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, acting police commander Col. Diosdado Fabian said Eduardo Ocampo, of Bgy. Sto. Rosario, Angeles City, was killed in s hot pursuit operation by elements of Station 2 and City Intelligence Unit in Purok 4B, Barangay Pampang, Angeles City. 

Victim Amiel Sagun, 26, of Purok 3, Bgy. Margot, Angeles City, complained to the police that a man wearing a black jacket, a jogging pants with black helmet took his cellphone and wallet containing P5,000 cash at gunpoint before escaping on a black motorcycle.

Immediately, the information was relayed to TOC-ACPO for flash alarm and dragnet operation for the arrest of the suspect. 

In a follow-up operation, members of the Police Station 2 together with CIU-ACPO operatives spotted the suspect which resulted in a hot pursuit operation. 

The suspect was cornered at Purok 4B, Bgy. Pampang, Angeles City prompting the suspect to shoot at the responding cops, which led to a brief exchange of shots and his death.

Police identified the suspect based on his identification cards as Ocampo.

Recovered from the suspect were one .9mm pistol loaded with six bullets, four .9mm fired cartridge shells, one black plateless motorcycle, a black sling bag containing 12 plastic sachets of shabu, the victim’s cellphone and wallet with his driver’s license and P5,000.

”The Central Luzon police will continue to launch operations to wipe out criminality in the region,” Baccay said.
