The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) recently signed two memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Korean Water Resources Corp., also known as K-Water – a South Korean government agency specializing in national management of water source development.

These agreements formalized a partnership between BCDA and K-Water, aimed at developing comprehensive water resource plans for two BCDA projects: New Clark City in Tarlac and Camp John Hay in Baguio. Under these MOUs, K-Water will serve as matter-experts and conduct feasibility studies on water supply sources for both locations.

BCDA President and CEO, Joshua M. Bingcang emphasized the importance of forging partnerships with Korea, a pioneer in innovating technology for addressing the climate crisis.

“K-Water has been at the forefront of water development for industrialization and economic prosperity”, Bingcang stated.

Song Yon Han, Vice President of K-Water, also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. He emphasized their desire for the collaboration to “celebrate cooperative effort and to foster continuous cooperation.”

The MOUs serve as confirmation of the collaborative study and will ensure that results will provide insights on the subject, this includes smart water supplies and sewage monitoring systems.

K-Water aims to provide a consolidated report of their findings by December of this year. They also promised to stay dedicated to their partnership with BCDA and to strive for the best outcome for both parties.
