BOC Clark intercepts ₱10M shabu from USA

Drugs concealed in aluminum tubes

Some P10 million in shabu, which originated from the United States, were discovered by the Bureau of Customs Port of Clark hidden inside aluminum tubes.

Through enhanced profiling and x-ray screening, the BOC Clark intercepted a shipment which was falsely declared as a “Black Vinyl Window Made Out of PVC” where the drugs, weighing approximately 1,502.9269 grams and valued at ₱10.219 million, were found.

The shipment was flagged for physical examination during the initial profiling of advance copies of documents on January 19, 2025. Upon arrival the following day, it also underwent x-ray scanning by the X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), which revealed unusual images.

A subsequent physical inspection uncovered a black vinyl window with tempered glass, where four (4) aluminum tubes were discreetly hidden, each concealing the suspected “Shabu.”

A joint physical examination was conducted with representatives from the PDEA Regional Office III, the PNP Aviation Security Unit General Aviation, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group III, NBI Pampanga, and Barangay Officials of Dau, in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for a unified government approach to combat drug smuggling.

District Collector Jairus Reyes commended the operation, stating, “This successful operation highlights our dedication in safeguarding our borders through increased vigilance and close cooperation with our partner agencies.”

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued against the subject shipment for violations of Section 118(g), Section 119(d), and Section 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l) of R.A. No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to R.A. No. 9165.

Under the leadership of Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the BOC remains steadfast in its mission to prevent smuggling and strengthen border security. Commissioner Rubio reiterated: “The BOC is dedicated in preventing smuggling activities and strengthening border security to protect our nation and citizens from the threats posed by illicit substances.”
