CLARK FREEPORT – With the threat of the Omicron variant looming in the country, the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has appealed to all its workers, locators, and visitors to remain vigilant and continue taking necessary precautions against COVID-19.
In a statement, CDC President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan reiterated the importance of following health protocols as recent cases of Omicron have emerged in the Philippines. He also urged all locators of this Freeport to heighten their safety measures while the Freeport recuperates from the economic impact of the pandemic.
“Let us be more cautious and alert to prevent possible surge of the Omicron variant. Let us also protect our gains in reviving the tourism and economy of Clark,” he said.
Meanwhile, the CDC’s Health and Sanitation Division (HSD) has also renewed its call for people to adhere to minimum health standards such as wearing of face masks, practicing proper hand washing, observing physical distancing, ensuring proper ventilation, and avoiding crowded places among others.
Awareness on health protocols is also encouraged especially this holiday season. The CDC likewise enjoined those unvaccinated to avail vaccination and receive additional protection against the COVID-19 virus.
According to a recent report from the Department of Health (DOH), there have been four cases of Omicron in the Philippines, all of which are travelers from other countries. It was stated that no local transmission has yet been detected. The health agency likewise said that the Omicron variant poses high transmissibility with doubling time every two days. Active surveillance, tracing, testing, and isolation were also recommended by the health department.
